From social emergency to collective transformation
Never-ending poverty
The gap between rich and poor in Belgium keeps widening. Thousands of families are surviving rather than living, constantly juggling bills and basic needs. More alarming still, children born into poverty remain trapped there, as social mobility has become a myth for many.
Our Muslim community is no exception. Although no official statistics can document it – statistics based on religious data are prohibited – we see every day how our families are over-represented among the most vulnerable. Wasted talent, stifled potential, entire generations deprived of opportunity.
Break this cycle of poverty for good
We dream of a Belgium where Zakat becomes the safety net our country cannot provide. Where every Muslim child has the same chance of success as any other child. Where our elders live in dignity, our single-parent families can breathe again, and our young entrepreneurs get the boost that changes everything.
What Zakat offers is not charity: it is a revolution in solidarity. A system in which 2.5% of the wealth of everyone liable to pay it, finally optimised and pooled, becomes the tool that breaks the chains of intergenerational poverty once and for all.

What we stand for
Within five years, we aim to become the most impactful and inspiring Islamic philanthropic institution in Belgium. By applying the highest quality standards, rooted in Islamic values and principles, we are creating a model that inspires trust and drives our community towards excellence. The close partnerships we intend to build with Belgian social organisations, together with our network of multidisciplinary experts, will enable us to respond effectively to the complex challenges facing Muslims in Belgium. Together, we are turning Zakat into a lever for lasting social change.
Our mission is to revive the third pillar of Islam – Zakat – to strengthen the solidarity and self-reliance of the Muslim community in Belgium. We will help every Muslim calculate their Zakat precisely, thanks to our digital tools and our expertise. We will then centralise its collection to optimise distribution to the eight categories of beneficiaries. By pooling scattered resources, we will turn one-off aid into lasting solutions that break the cycle of poverty and create real opportunities.
